Professor Chapman is a renal physician with a particular interest in transplantation. He is the Director for Acute Interventional Medicine at Westmead Hospital in Sydney, Consultant Medical Director to the NSW Australian Red Cross Blood Service Tissue Typing Laboratory, and Chairman of the Australian Bone Marrow Donor Registry. He is the President of The Transplantation Society, Secretary General and Past President of the World Marrow Donor Association, and Past President of the Transplantation Society of Australia and New Zealand.

Professor Chapmanā€™s clinical work is in renal medicine, transplantation of the kidney and pancreas, and diabetic renal disease. He is currently pursuing research interests in transplantation, tissue typing and xenotransplantation. Professor Chapman is actively involved in the academic field, with over 230 peer reviewed papers. He is a Professor at the University of Sydney, Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in the United Kingdom, and a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
